I don't know how girls tolerate this.. I don't think my wisdom tooth extraction the other day was as painful as this.. hahah I wonder if the beauticians have all installed the "pop the zit" app on their phone. :X

hahahah well, hopefully tomorrow my face will be as smooth as a baby's butt, worst comes to worst, there's always paper bags.. right? /dun dun dunnnn

Ice Cream + love songs

Benben found out the wonders of ice cream + love songs.

So I was eating ice cream just now to sooth my post-wisdom-tooth-extraction-pain, and there was this nice sweet Chinese love song playing on MTV and all of the sudden my soft serve tasted amazing~ It's like the sweetness of the lyrics have successfully merged with the flavors of my ice cream.

Then the next song came up, a Chinese "Break up love song" ... and I guess all of you who listen to Chinese break up songs, you'd understand how well the lyrics describe the pain and all of the sudden my soft serve tasted a bit funny.. :x

haha amazing isn't it?? No wonder Bridget Jones would down a tub of ben and Jerry's by herself.. /forver alone

Hey Guys!! Happy New Year! Hope 2011 had been going well so far!!

According to the new research, I am no longer a Cancerian, but a Geminian~~ lolssss

I don't really believe in Horoscopes but it's fun to read about the character analysis about my star sign. LOLS So, I went to dig up an email which dated back to 2008.

I was at the Hairdresser the other day and while I was waiting for my turn to have a haircut, I overheard this guy asking the hairdresser if she knew a place where he could get his eyebrows plucked and groomed.

I personally think that grooming is important, even for men. But I don't think that one should over do their personal grooming sesh.

Music from the park

At 12 midday, the music started pumping out of the speakers and keen festival goers start to fill the park. I was working at Parklife in the VIP team. Good fun wristbanding the guests.

There were a few stages at Parklife. Fuzzy actually made on stage which looked like a pirate ship, had a few Indie bands playing in there, quite cool I must say! With Sahara stage being the closest stage to me, I manage to ~~watch~~ listen to most of the acts when I am still signed on.

It was actually a very nice day (I thought it was gonna rain as it was heaps cloudy in the morning)

Finally, time for me to get into the action and catch a glimpse of some of the acts. Everyone seemed to be talking about Missy E, So I decided to have a look for myself. But before that,

I should get myself "hydrated". :P

Rays coming through the Sahara Stage

When I heard "Who is ready for Missy!" and heaps of screening, I knew it was time to move in closer to the stage. Missy used "magic" as her theme to get on stage, you know those put-all-cubes-together and TADAH~! I'm on stage kinda thing.

The pic was taken with a point-and-shoot so sorry about the noise level. : / Overall, Missy's act was alright, but I wouldn't say that she is the highlight of the evening.

One of my personal favourite for Parklife would be *2manydjs!* The tunes that they churn out from the deck was awesome! Another thing that I like about them is they use some popular tunes so that the crowd can sing along to it and groove to the dance rhythm at the same time

Groove Armada did a good job at Parklife too. I think this was their last act in Australia.

The party didn't finish at Botanic Gardens. I hopped over to electric Circus for the unofficial after party!

Cover charge was a bit pricey though, for a Monday night, non-official event . Well, I still had fun so it was not too bad after all.

End of Parklife marks the beginning of the Music Festival Season` Can't wait for Stereosonic!!

Hey Guys, how's stuff? lack of updates lately. Not that busy.. just the usual unmotivated to tap on the keys. :)

Updates about wad's going on: Music Teaching is still going on, trying to secure a position in upcoming parklife and stereosonic festival. There's a vacancy in Fuse music fest @ Adelaide Fringe which I can apply for too~ So yeah. Job hunting = ongoing battle in the arts field. Lots of networking at the moment. yeah, basically the same stuff.

oh, saving up money so that I can pay for stuff and buy some gear (camera and gadgets). Haven't done a photoshoot for ages..

Erm, apart from that guess it's still the same.. winter in Australia.. Oh yeah~ started going to the gym (preparing for summer you see, dun want ppl to laugh at me and say I am ah pui [ah fat]) hahaha.

right, just a bit of an update.. will ramble here again soon~

Rainy Dayz

I think it's quite nice when you have a rainy day once in a while.. Not those pouring-until-it-floods kinda rain, but those "gentle rain" where you can hear the rain drops actually landing on the roof, leaves etc

After teaching last night, it started raining heavily and I had to sit at the bus stop waiting for the rain to subside a little bit.. I had my gym bag and my violin and I looked as if I just ran away from home. lols

Anywho~~ The rain slowed down a little and I was enjoying my moment just doing nothing but looking at raindrops falling onto the puddle of water on the road.. It was actually very calming..

Nowadays, I think people cannot afford the time to just halt and take a breather.. so sometimes a rainy day is good to slow down the pace a little for us.

It was a usual morning, wake up, email, look at job websites, hunt down employers.. then after 2 hours of that.. the brain seemed to be fried...

Before that I was looking at US and UK traveling visa thingy. I wanna fly away~~~ but then no money to do so. hahahaha Wanna move to Sydney or Melbourne to look for job also not very wise without a financial stability~ X _ X

But I guess more importantly, I want to be working as a music personnel in the media arts and entertainment industry. I think the employer's door are made of some lalala materials, cause no matter where and how I knock, I ended up having bruised fists and broken teeth when they slam the door back in my face. aiyaiyai.

Now if only I was not an arts grad.. then I wouldn't have to look at search results like this on job websites:

It's Duanwu Festival today~ When you are overseas, it's a bit difficult for you to get the food that you eat during solstice festival. Last two years, I have been craving my ah mah's bak zang (grandma's rice dumpling) when I was in QLD. This year, however, is a different story. Thanks to EM, I get to have home made bak zang for duanwu festival~

Look the the glistening meat wrapped in glutinous rice~ mmm the texture, the taste, the smell.. *melts melts melts* HAHAHAHA I am so evil sometimes~

Anywho, please excuse me while I go grab myself a few more bak zang to munch on~ Hope you enjoyed looking at the pic. :P

You've Got Mail

When you are in the middle of job hunting, you get particularly excited when you receive a new email in your inbox~

At that moment it is as if the world stopped spinning and you see fireworks shooting up in the background~ *cues dramatic disney magical music here*

Just when you are high in cloud 9, you suddenly realized after you tap the open button, it's just another spam mail, most likely to be some lame email like youwinbig@google.com stating that your blardy email won truckloads of moolah~

.. and that is when all hell break loose~ *cues scary movie soundtrack here* ahahahaha the joy of job hunting and waiting for a response~

I heart the shinny apple~

After gazillion years of speculating, dropping phone at bars, mock up images, ladidah, Apple finally announced it's latest toy, the iPhone 4.0~!

Yes, I can't help but stare at the sleek and shinny body. The built in 5mp camera allows you to ~~stalk people easily~~ take nice pictures of your outings or your loved ones~ Oh did I mention HD filming!

There's facetime (fancy apple terminology of video call) function in the new iPhone, however it's only compatible with other iPhone 4.0 and would only work on wifi network if I am not mistaken :X

All in all, fabulous new toy~ An apple will always be an apple <3 hahahhaha I think it's gonna land in Australia early July/August, maybe I will try and secure one for my birthday lols~ We shall hold that thought first cause I am pretty sure the cap plan is gonna cost truckloads of moolah (like as if that's gonna stop me) AHAHAHHA

Garden Parade @ the alma

Few nights ago, Benben attended the Garden Parade at Alma Tavern. Since it was a quiet Wednesday night ~~and I had nothing better to do~~ and I have been wanting to check out pride models (I'd like to have some work experience with them - hopefully) for a bit when I got back from Sydney and some footy player from the Crows were gonna model too. So yeah, off the the Alma it is!

When I got there, it was 241 vodka promo - HOORAH~ :P So I grabbed a few and secured a spot in front of the runway while waiting for the show to start

okay` pretty crowded spot to spot to shoot photos but oh wells, couldn't complain much~ Oh yeah, I manage to spot Elisa of Elle J photography! I like the work that she did for Pride models, very strong sense of fashion and character! (her massive nikon D3 did help me recognize that she might be the photographer too :P)

Then the show begins! Poor old me only had a point and shoot camera, so these photos are the best that I can do :S

I like this model` I think her features and expressions are quite strong. :D Ironically, most of the usable pics that I took from that night are of her.

Overall, it was a good night for me, and it's sort of like my first informal visit to a fashion parade. Hopefully there are more chances if I get to secure work experience with Pride models (hint hint if you guys are reading this :P)

A day in the Studio with Simon Le

Last Saturday Benben had the opportunity to work with one of Sydney's top photographer,Simon Le. Yes, I was heaps excited to see what is in store for me that day. It rained ~~cats and dogs~~ kangaroos and wombats... thank goodness I have already reached the studio or else I would definitely be soup of the day`

Anyways~! Simon was already waiting in front of the studio. It was my first time working with him. So we had a little chat and stuff waiting for the studio to open.

That morning's shoot was more about winter fashion. Arno was the model for that shoot and I have to say he fits the bill perfectly. His European features are so distinct it pierces through the LED display of the SLR (no I was only joking but you get the idea :P)

And let the shoot begin ~

I was trying hard not to pack the jacket into my bag LOLS~ but yeah, some of the wardrobe that was there that morning was really cool!

After a milder winter clothing shoot during the day, things start to heat up in the arvo! I get to meet Eliot and Tim for some underwear shoot`

Eliot started the 2nd session. It was his first shoot but damn was he a natural. Look out for him Sydney, he will probably be the next big thing. :)

I was helping out but I did not neglect my lil compact camera. haha I was taking a pic with Eliot after his first sesh and Simon said "hop in I'll snap a pic for you"

It was Tim's turn next. Tim was like a model stepping straight out of the cover of men's health magazine. His physique was amazing! Looks like you can believe some stuff you see on magazine too ey :P

After a long day in the studio~ we are done!! There was never a dull moment in the studio and frankly speaking I was very lucky to be able to work in a shoot like that. I really admire Simon and his ethics as an artist. He is established but he never hesitates to help out new comer in the industry by sharing his skills. Thanks Simon! hope we have the chance to work again in near future! You can check out Simon's Port too~

Flying to Sydney

Benben is flying off to Sydney this afternoon.

The reason for flying to Sydney this time is to help out a published photographer and be the photography assistant. Then I'm also gonna visit sandcastle to have a chat with the supervisor and director.

Hopefully I will gain heaps from this trip. Oh yeah, friends I met during my internship last September is going back to their respective countries, so it will be fun to catch up with them before they fly far, far away` Who knows when I will see them again. haha.

Anyways, will update in Sydney if I feel like it (or if I have net access) hehe.

Mode: Job Hunting.
Status: Semi-jobless graduate
Character: turning bipolar

Being a graduate is tougher than being a full time student. At least in uni, all you have to do is finish up your assignments the day before the due date and then party the rest of the week. Of course, there is the odd job to support your weekly expenses.

Now, you are left in the society, having to fight with gazillions of graduates out there to secure a full time job in the media arts industry... Sometimes I question myself: is it possible?

Maybe as an arts grad, we need to gather heaps of freelance jobs to fill up our 38hours working week.. Then again, is there as many jobs in sound field compared to design and photography.. did I chose the right major.. yada yada yada.. all these things seemed to dawn onto you over night, as if the day you leave uni is the day you have to force feed yourself with "grow-me-up-overnight pills"..

Yes, I am lost. I went to uni to realize that I learn a very broad spectrum of media arts and in the end I am jack of all trades, master of none. What am I actually?? Perhaps I should have just studied a finance degree in uni or did something like media and communications.

Blah, this is just a phase hopefully.. I have a lot of free time on my hand.. watch this space as I will start to bombard with random ramblings of mine again. So if you'll excuse me, I will go make myself a cuppa and do nothing for the whole day. Till next time~

Sydney here I come! lols.

I've finally booked my airticket and accomodation to Sydney. In case you were wondering, this boy everyday fly here fly there like don't have to study, you are wrong! (well.. partially :P) I was actually lucky enough to get offered a placement experience at sandcastle studios in Sydney, so it's ~~30% uni and 70% play~~~ it's purely Uni work :X

Can't believe 1/4 of the 2nd sem is already over! I'll be graduating end of this year!!! O M G

hahahhaha alright alright, I am just blabbing all over the place. So what else have I done for the past few ~~months~~ days:

I think I have grow out of blogging.. I was checking my stale email and I saw this advertisement by nuffnang and MTV Asia..

A chance to become a MTV Blogger! Back in those days I would gone "Heck yeah! Become famous! *type blog type blog* *try to be creative* *type somemore*

But when I saw that ad just now.. I went like.. hrm.. only 4 lucky bloggers.. I didn't bother trying my luck. Might be because I am growing old [no you did not read me typing that, your playing mind tricks on yourself.. you like Benben's weird post] okay.. anyways back to my point... :X

I used to be clicking on the counter everyday back in when blogging was still in one of my agenda of the day. But now when I click on the counter in 2 or 3 weeks and see about 20 ~~stalkers~~ readers one day, I would just laugh and think it's funny that there are still visitors to coming to my blog (Even if they landed on my blog accidentally, it still counts! :P )

well anyways, usually when you see a title with "I think..." it is very possible that I am bored shitless and is trying to inflict this on other people as well and of course it is good to practice typing once in a while to keep the joints healthy. HA!

Well, for these past few weeks at least.

I'm always so busy with assignments ~~rushing last minute submission~~ cause the lecturers all decided to put the due datas on the same day.

My body sort of like got used to the fact of having late lunches on Fridays, and on Fridays only. Usually by 12, my stomach would be growling like nobody's business. But on Friday, it usually lasted until about 3 then it will start to give up. lols Bad I know, but I just find it amusing how the body remember stuff like that, or am I hallucinating!?

Anyways, I am gonna go home now and eat something before I go to work. A picture would always be an icing on the cake for a post. So picture of the day would be my fav place to hang around in the uni:

I went on an escapade with one of my girlfriend from uni today to hunt for the perfect male model for my photography assignment.

I realized that Benben is growing old, soon Benben will no longer sound cute and adorable, rather will be criticized as "damn old still wanna act cute" lols.

Anyways, I was browsing youtube earlier today and landed on Zee avi's youtube page. Apparently she is a Malaysian singer/song writer who posted her videos on youtube and got discovered by a record label in the states. Now her album will be released on the 19th of may.. oops.. It's already released.. haha.

Sometimes I think very hard when people ask me "what do you wanna do after you graduated?" Frankly, I don't really know. But the thought of being able to tour new york, austin and the lot does sound very tempting. ha! But I know that the life of the celebrity wouldn't work for me. I can't stand the thought of papa and mamarazzis scrutinizing every single action of mine. Heck, I can't even enjoy my public nose digging session without being snapped and captioned (not like I dig my nose in public :X)Having said that, who wouldn't like to enjoy being in the limelight once in a while? haha.

But yeah, with Zee Avi's song playing in the background, typing this post seemed more fun than usual and at this very minute, I have rediscovered the joy of blogging, to be able to write whatever you like, and have random people reading my random ramblings to make this random world more random? see what I am saying? lols.

I got Raenai to bring a few packs of laksa paste when she came home from kch the other time for me and my sis. Last weekend, I finally get rid of most of my lazy bugs and decided to host a laksa lunch` hahahahaha

So that easter long weekend I went out to get some stuff after church, then I went to pick up michelle and raen. The last guest on the list, however, did not pick up her phone, so we ~~had to raid her house~~ go to her house and expect her to be at home . When we reached there, there was no doorbell on the door and eve was staying at the end bit of the house! so no matter how hard we banged on the door, we still can't get her attention. Luckily her friendly neighbor was outside mowing the lawns. so he lend me a chair. For your info, benben never climbed a fence eh and the chair was still a bit low, so I had to KUNG FU JUMP onto the brick wall and over the fence. Waiseh! didn't know I could get myself over, especially with my heavy ka chng being dragged down by gravity...

anyways! We managed to get eve, and we went out to my place and started cooking. Behold, My first laksa overseas!!

HELLO PEOPLE!!! how are you all?~ Did you misssssss me???? Yours truly just got back from Airlie Beach last weekend for Church camp. It was AWESOME AS!!!!

I went snorkeling! If you didn't know yet, I don't know how to swim (yes, now you have another way to threaten me) hahahah But I still went to snorkel. It was scary!!! but quite fun at the same time. :P The water was murky cause it rained heaps that day. The boat ride was awesome!!! It's like sitting on roller coaster, ahha , we were literally "flying" up and down on the seats hahaha.

The sand at the beach is white, thus the name Whitehaven beach. Imagine a beach full of castor sugar.... okay maybe not that white, but you get the idea. It was sunny at when we had lunch at the beach, therefore it's a good time to....

Cam whore~ AHAHHAHAHAHA

Anyways, lunch was not too bad (just a bit tasteless). I was burnt after lunch cause we spent like 3 hours at the beach. haha it was awesome though~

Oh yeah!!

Benben bought a new toy. lols~ Introducing another one of his toy:

Real fun to have, can play game when you are ~~doing number 2 in the loo~~ bored, listen to songs when other ppl are not making sense, go online~, no need to bring heavy bible to church, heaps of stuff you can do with this!!! hehehe loving it ;)

Hehe, a nice blog to start a new year~

Last time, I used to hear people complaining about how they got back-stabbed at work and stuff and ugly the scene can get and how shitty it made them feel. I didn't think it was such big of a deal when they mentioned it last time. Not until today, when I experienced it for myself!! It indeed was.. how should I put this in words.. OH! As though I've got Gu sai (cow poo) slapped right onto my face.

These two tards think they are so superior and so experienced that they think they are the best bar tender in the world. !@#$*@*#$*!@#*$!*@#$ Reality check: If you two are so freaking awesome, don't get cranky and disorientated when dockets start pilling up, GENIUS!

Even though I know what they say is not true, but it stung a bit when I tried to pull the knife out from my back. What's fun of all is that all these time I was being Mr. Nice guy. Then again, I don't have to be a complete tool even though people are saying nasty stuff behind my back.

A little bit of an update: I am no longer staying at the cosy little home with a pool table anymore~ I've moved to a neighborhood by the river. ahahahahahahha (some atas place :P) Then again, it's not permanent and I will move for another time in Febuary.

Apart from that, I've just recovered from food poisoning. Walau, the last few days really feel like wanna die. I can't even drink cause it will just come back up! Ka chng also lao till pain. ahhahahahahha. The girls are quite jealous that I lost 5kgs, but so suffering! HAHAHAH

erm what else, oh, I am working two jobs now cause it's summer. So it's kinda fun. One is in retail, another one in F & B. Some customers can really get on your nerve with their stupid questions. Pfffttt. hahaha

OH!!!! Benben is going to Cairns again this weekend for a concert tour. We will be performing Handel's Messiah up there. SUSHI!!!!! Wahahahhahaha can't wait. then again... the pieces are around 36 pages long... dont know after rehearsals still will feel anything or not. hahaha

Benben just started learning how to use photoshop around August this year. Since I am minoring in photography, I had to learn how to process the image as well. I really enjoyed this last assignment. when there's FREAKING GAZILLIONS Flies in your house! I Kid you not! and NO, I did not murder anyone and hide the body in the store room. It must be when the house was open for inspection yesterday, they left the door wide open.

This morning when I woke up and walked out of my room, an annoying fly was circling me. So as I continued to walk towards the dining area, I saw a fly stopping on the curtains. I then prepared my fly-squishing kung fu pose and WHAM! got the idiotic fly. When I thought everything was over, I was damn wrong! Killing the fly was when all hell breaks loose! All the lalats stopping on the other corner of the curtain flew up, it felt as if I was seeing black flying moles coming in my direction! GAHHHHHHH!

It was a funny sight at 9 in the morning. You can imagine yours truly, standing there slapping on the curtains trying to kill as many flies as possible. After a very, very tiring of .. 20 minutes maybe, I've finally managed to squish most if not all of them. and you know what is the tabulated death counts?!

anyways, I visited Cleland wildlife when I was in SA the other day. It was quite a gloomy day and it rained a bit at the end of my trip`

I enjoyed feeding the kangaroooos over there. Some of the kangaroos sipeh haolian one lor! (damn proud one lor!) Either they are full already, sick of the food, or I am not attractive enough to seduce them to feed from my hand. But at the end I managed to find a few hungry ones, which was fun~ Besides,

My first big audition was unsuccessful! haha. Months ago, I auditioned for the Australian Youth Orchestra and the results were leased today` I didn't get in hehe, just like what I expected. :) I am, however, on reserve for my violin and viola. So, in case some one lao sai until cannot walk, I might be asked to go in.

haha, anyways, provided I only practice such little amount of time for three instruments and still managed to get into reserve for two, I should be thankful aye? This is the whole Australia we are talking about! hahaha

Anyways, a fun first experience to audition for such big event. maybe i will give it a go again next year. lols!

A bit of an update` Benben has been fine, still healthy although the eye bags are getting larger by the days. I always say I want to start my face revamp but never did. AHAH!

Winter is over now and Spring is here~ It's starting to get real warm here and I am as dark as the burnt bit on a piece of char siew. (sorry, feel like eating honey glazed bbq pork rice hehehehe)

I've had gigs around the place, playing in weddings and other functions. The other day I played in this massive luncheon organized by the city council for the old folks here. Imagine playing on stage in front of 2000 old folks. hahah` massive afternoon`

Boingboing had started to black mail me, saying that if I don't update my blog soon, he will burn my instruments and feed me to the werewolves. Besides, how can I loose to Hikaru who had recently came out of the closet????? of course must blog die die larh~ hehehehe

HAlo all!! I am back in my kampung, did you miss me? hehe

Trip to Adelaide was a blast!!! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there~ Had heaps of sushis, went sight seeing, went to parks, walked around, bumped around, lalala, dididi, bilibalabiii, etc etc~ Will update in detail soon *cross fingers and anything which can be crossed*

My flight back from Adelaide was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tiring and I kid you not. So I was supposed to come back on Saturday, but that flight got canceled for no reason! But I am not complaining about that (cause I get to stay one more day in Adelaide) MuahaHaHahaHAHAHaHHaAHAhA

I board the flight safely on Sunday and as I was about to land at kampung, the flight started to rotate around the place... After awhile there was an announcement saying that we couldn't land at the airport. X_X There was power shortage at the airport runway and therefore we had to fly over to Cairns and I was stuck at the airport for 5 hrs. When I finally got home, it was already 3 in the morning. fulala!

But anyways, uni started this week, all is good so far. Hopefully it will be a very enjoyable sem as well.

Oh, here's a recent picture of me, heheheh. I had 2 hair cuts in Adelaide. This is after the first one. It's a bit bushy on the side cause the wind was damn strong that day.

Ah Benben is currently enjoying his winter break and all is good so far. I performed in Australian Festival of Chamber music alongside the Barrier Reef of Orchestra few days ago. It was really a very fascinating experience to see world class musicians performing in the festivals. An eye opener indeed!

I've also tried to auditioned for the Australian Youth Orchestra. Now that one, I don't think I have a chance to get in. I only found out about it and registered two weeks before the closing date. hahaha and with my behzaisi-ness (not-scared-die-ness) I went and enrolled for violin, viola and flute= 3 short pieces and 15 excerpts altogether. AHaHAHAHaHAHAH! So, that one I think it's only an experience larh. Can still try next year :D

Oh yeah, I am in Adelaide now , experiencing a cold winter. hehe It's nice! just that it's a bit grey and gloomy sometimes and you don't get to see the sun that often.

I think it was about 2 years ago, one of my 38 friend introduced me to this korean pianist named Yiruma. I have then fallen in love with the piano music that this composer were able to produce, how he uses altered chords and suspensions and all those chord extensions. SO PRETTY CAN DIE THE PIECES!!!!

hehe, so since Ah Ben haven't been posting videos lately, I will share this piece called river flows in you by yiruma. I didn't really practice the piece hence the lack of expressions and the awkward pause in between, but anyways, that is the gist of the piece. Hope you enjoy it :)

Debut audition in aus~

Ah Benben went for his debut audition in Aus today~ hahahahaha

Last weekend, I got an email from uni, saying that this week the marketing ppl are holding an audition to look for international students to star in their up coming TV ad~ So after looking at the mail, my ka ch'ng zio (back side itchy) and decided to go for the audition today, besides, what do I have to loose right?! :X

So I went to the audition room, and a nice lady handed me a form to fill. So I take a look.. WOAH! first column, "artist's name" WAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! pardon the wahah, but I feel that the form is so bitchy I have to wahahahha to match with it` lols suddenly become artist, yerdeh! LOLS!

After I fill in my form I got in the room and this friendly chap shook my hand, clipped those talk show mic on my shirt and asked me to stand on the mark in front of the camera~ Oh oh! he asked me to hold the form on my chest, cause the form has this number on it, so I held it like a criminal and gave my DODGIEST smile ever and he snapped my picha LOLS! so embarassing :#

so he asked me the usual questions, what do I think of the uni, how did i know the uni, when did i decide to come over and the whole lot. :D

It was quite fun actually~ So hope I get it leh. (more importantly, hope they pay me money if i get it!) :P

It was such a lovely day yesterday, so Ah Benben decided to exercise a bit an slim down his starting-to-get-bigger-ka chng and WALK to uni~

So angel boing was guiding ben's way. Suddenly, angel boing stopped. There was a turning on the right...

...and out of no where, the evil toing APPEARED!!

Of course, ben knew evil toing was nothing but sheer evil, so he continued walking towards angel boing's direction~

Unfortunately, temptation is always at the side of the open road..

and because of that, Ben took the road not taken..........

and ended up at somewhere he thought would lead him to the uni~ ben was quite intrigued with the scenery, it was after all his first time at that trail.

suddenly, he smelt something funky when he was walking. To his horror....

THERE WAS KAO SAI (DOG SHIT) EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!! (okay, maybe it was not in the sky, but it's definitely all over) Big one, small one, round one, wet one, dry one, hampalang also got~!

Benben decided to gather up his speed so that he can leave that poo-zone and get to Uni ASAP. When he thought he saw a bridge to cross over.....

.. it was actually a damp on the river. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! wasted effort~!

Actually I tried to use the shortcut cause my landlord's mom said there was one to the uni. Obviously, I took the wrong shortcut. The moral of the story is ~~don't receive lollypop from evil toing~~ don't explore "shortcuts" when you have uni or else you might end up in poo-zone~ :X

So hard to jalan-jalan cari makan (walk-walk find eat) over here le. No hawker stall, no belachan bee hoon, no kopitiam, heck, NO SUSHI KING EVEN!!! I dreamt about sushi the other night, you can imagine how sushi-ly deprived I am~ :X

Oh` So the other day I was at McD having something to eat. I ordered Mc Chicken and when I sat down, I HAD AN ELIGHTENMENT!! *Hallelujah chorus playing in the background* okay.. maybe there wasn't the light-shining-down-from-cloud scenario, but I did realize something.

I just went to woolworth for groceries and i had HAM AND BBQ SAUCE in the bags. WahaHAHAhahahahaAH. In case you didnt know, you have to pay to get your sauce in the McD here. It's not like back home where you can squirt the sauce until tsunami also nobody care. So that day I actually had McChick-ham + BBq sauce hehehe yummie :P

then last night~ I had something quite interesting.

Noodle boxes~ heheh :D

It's like those thing you only see in movies, where the angmoh eat their chinese take-aways from boxes??? hahaha besides, where in the world can we find mee goreng in boxes back home, wrapped in banana leaves then got la! ahha

I ordered Terriyaki Chicken. Should have ordered beef instead` hehe It was quite nice, but when you reach the bottom of the box you feel sick already :P

OH OH OH OH !!! I GAINED BACK 2KG~ Fatso already now. hahahah So I am now back to my 66kgs hehehe :P

I should update more often, haha I miss the enjoyment of confusing other people with my rojak language` hehehe very long didnt feature boing boing already, he baru slam my head with fly swatter the other day hahaha oops :X

I love my evening walk

Ah benben enjoys his evening walks~! Last time when I was home right, I don't think I will even walk to some place. Why bother when you have a car leh?! hehe It's different here. I think the amount spent on walking is my yearly walking record in kuching. hahha

I usually go for a walk at the park along the river (I think I mentioned this few posts back). I would walk there and would jog back sometimes. hehe today I've got a few pictures to share with you guys cause benben has a hp already bahahahah :X

My favorite spot in the park~ It's at the other end of the park and it's out of the main trail so usually I can have the whole place to myself. Damn relaxing~!

Of cos when you're relaxing, you have to...

take vain pictures of yourself!!!! bahahahahahhahaha yes, I look like this just in case you guys don't remember hehe :P My eye bags are so deep cause the previous night I woke up at 3 and couldn't sleep. tadah~~ :X

It's approaching winter now so the sky gets dark around 630. I usually start walking back at around 6 and it's that time of the hour...

when the colors of the sky and surroundings are one of the most attractive things you'll see in a day. :)

heheheh hello all~!!! :D still remember me or not zek? I know I know, it's been so long since I've updated this blog of mine. Sorry lar, no camera cable no motivation to post blog, you know la, a blog full of words is not very interesting isn't it??? (especially when I use rojak language, it makes everything ~~worst~~ more complicated~)

So, a bit of update about uni. I've finished the first wave of quizzes and assignments so I am quite slack now heheheheh There will be a week of lecture recess next week, so I might go to magnetic island for a trip *io io io ~* Hope I get to see pretty coral reeves because the great barrier reef is just somewhere there.. I think :X hehe

Apart from that, I've been going for walks along ross river` Yes, I actually dragged my heavy ka chng out for a walk. There's a place along the ross river park, where the owner of doggies can unleash their dogs and let them run around. SO ADORABLE THE DOGGIES!!!!!!!! Oh, and I jogged home the other day~! so proud of myself :P

so you think ah benben is finally doing some healthy stuff for himself? hehe not completely true. Last night I cooked grilled honey terriyaki chicken with mashed potatoes and boiled vege` *insert picture here* SEE how important is a camera?!?! bahahahah

Oh yeah, my hair is getting longer so I predict I will become a cave man in like... errrrrr 2 months' time? hehehehe

how is everyone? did i miss out on anything important? I miss going out for a drink with friends back home. Oh, and gwen and geri, miss you girls too~ (so sweet of her to leave msg in my facebook) hehe Gwen and Sala asked me to update blog~ see, got reminder, very nice isn't it?

... Lives ah Benben and his two housemates` ahahaha Basically it's quite a safe neighbourhood, apart from the !@#$%^ dogs in a few of the houses. Other than that it's not too bad~

The fences are so low they can consider not having them at all. But unlike back home where some of the fences are as tall as the magic bean stalk (which the burglars could still break in o_O), some people just leave their gates wide opened.. and it seemed okay

Today is good friday and it's a major celebration for Christian. Today 2000 years ago, the Lord sacrificed himself to be nailed on the crucifix so that we sinners can have eternal life. What a great thing to do aye? No wonder they called it the sacrificial love.

Today, the seafood shops in townsville had sold out all of their stock because catholics can't take meat on Friday. Even though Ah Benben is not a catholic, he decided to follow the catholic tradition today and cooked....

Pan fried fish with chips and veges. hehehe One thing fun about studying overseas is that you get to mess around in the kitchen. :D

OH! just now when I was frying the chips, the stove short circuited and gave out a THUD! there were blue sparks for a second! yikes. But the funny thing was.. I wasn't using that particular stove but it got sotzzz instead. Fingers crossed that it's not gonna be expensive to fix it.

P.s: I fixed the gate today cause the lock wouldn't budge. Not bad for a music student aye? lols

It's so hard to get a public holiday in Australia, unlike in Malaysia, syiok syiok got holiday, SO FUN CAN?!?! lols~ anyways, Since it was a long weekend, ah benben decided to borrow the camera from the lab again (so that I can return it next tuesday.. ahahahahhahahaa :X) and since I have a camera (with the cable) at home, I can show you the picture of my.....

Dinner last night~ AHAHAHAHAHAHAHaHaHAAHaHhaAhA

My first attempt to cook lemon chicken. The lemon juice was a bit sour, so I added honey and it tasted like honey lemon, so it was not too bad for a first attempt` hehe. Then just stir fry a plate of mix vege and you get a nice dinner :) Too bad i didn't have camera when i cooked my first buttered chicken and the bulgogi. hehe oh wells, maybe next time.

So, this weekend.. I haven't really planned out what to do yet.. except going to church on easter sunday and on sunday night we might go and watch my friend's band perform. What should I do today?! What should I do tomorrow?!?! hahaha drama drama.. oh wells, I'll figure that out later.

and for the mean time.. please excuse me while I do my laundry on a sunday friday morning hehe

A sunny St Patty's day~

It was St patrick's day on Monday and Ah Benben has borrowed a camera from the lab~ So I decided to go over to the city and snap a few pictures~ heheheheheh

I did manage to snap a few pictures and for the first time playing with an Slr camera, I didn't know what the heck was going on. lols~ But when you have a camera in your hand, you just cant stop the temptation to snap snap and snap all the way` :D

So after walking along the strand, we decided to pop by the Irish bar called "Irish Finnegan" (St Patrick's day is an Irish Celebration). It is a tradition to wear green on St Patty's day because it symbolizes the Shamrock, and they said that on St. Patty's day, you are supposed to drown the shamrock (in this case urself, since you wore a green shirt) with alcohol` LOLS! such a wonderful excuse to drink, hahahahah! So Ah Benben took a glass of KillKenny on the special occassion` hehe

Monday night was a performance with the Barrier Reef Orchestra. Hehe, I was lucky enough to be able to join in the performance, seeing that I've only went to rehearsal for three times. The concert was indeed a great experience and even the youth orchestra is better than the orchestra back home. Alamak :X

I just had dinner and tonight's menu was Pork Stew and Stir fried Cabbage with egg. hehehe Sorry no pictures cause I could only hold on to the SLR for 24 hrs. OH~ when you have a camera, you must definitely.....

The water tastes weird over here. No matter how I boil it, it still tastes like shit. The odor is so intense I cannot really stand it. aiyerrrr I heard Queensland used recycled water i.e flushed toilet water. O M G!

I know i might not be used to the odor yet, but the water back home no odor at all one marh! I even tried to dump a few pieces of lemon in to lessen the odour, but the other time it didn't work. Now I am gonna give it a second go. If not, I would have to buy bottled drinking water and that would eventually cost me around RM 3000 for the period I am over here. KIU LANG OH!! (somebody save me~!!)

Spritzer and Borneo mineral water, where art thou? Thy taste so sweet, as though I am drinking from the fountain of the Gods. HAHAHAHAHAHA see how stinky water can make u nutz? :X

Hey all~ sorry for taking so long since my last update` :P Ah benben has settled down, moved in a house and started uni a week ago. Everything is fine! oh~ to answer some of the questions, Ah Benben is in Queensland now, that is the northern part of australia. I am majoring in digital sound and minoring in digital imaging. hehe` The uni is like a big wild life centre cause there are so many trees around, and I get to see cute walibis (a type of kangaroo... i think :X)hoping around!!! so adorable can die~! I'll take pictures when I get my card reader~ heheheh :D

Life here has been quite good so far. I was so happy to see rice in woolies (one of the hypermarts in aus, Woolworths)~ hehe so I'll cook rice most of the nights followed by two dishes. I had fun trying out different dishes~ I didn't take any photographs cause I can't upload it to my com (smart me forgot to bring my cable remember?? :X) Anyways, I tried to cook a couple of things and mostly turned out presentable and edible~! hehe Last night, I cooked buttered chicken and it was not too bad for a first time! hehe Tonight I cooked Bulgogi~ and I think I cooked nasi goreng pattaya last weekend. HAHAHAHAHAH!

The populations of Asian at the place I am at is soooooo little, I would say maybe around 0.3-0.5% only. So everywhere I am surrounded by angmoh most of the time~ Culture wise is of course very much different, eg: we don't make out in public places, we don't go to the mall barefooted/half naked, we don't see the cashiers in malaysia go "hey, how are you today~?" and so on. So it's very different but I like how they don't trail your ka chng when ur in a shop? they would ask once then leave you alone, and that I think is so important to make a shopper happy~

OH OH OH~! Ah benben went clubbing dy` hahahahahahha! It was interesting, and the best thing is: you go in a club smelling good, and you come out of the club smelling good too~ It's not like back home where they all smoked inside the club and you come out smelling like shit. Most of the places are non smoking zones and they do abide to that rule, THANK GOODNESS! Oh oh~! and I bitchily took picture of the condom vending machines in the toilet and I will post that up too when I can ahahhahahahahahaha

So yeah, that's is pretty much about it. I'll try to update more, but it's not gonna be interesting since there's not much photos to see leh` but oh wells, thanks for reading anyways :D

Hello~ hahaha How's it going mate? lols Ah Benben reached Oz safe and sound, thank God!

So a little update about the place I am in` Basically, this place is surrounded by ang mohs (white ppl). I've managed to find a place to stay!! hoorah~ haha I am currently staying at the backpackers and it's quite interesting to see all the different people staying over here. There's those super-models-look-alike, friendly aussies, scary mates, and a few olderly people. It's quite interesting when people just start to chat with you even though they don't know you. So yeah` Everything is freaking expensive! Even for internet. Now I kinda miss my streamyx` :X

Anyways, orientation is next week, and I will be moving into the house this sunday. So hopefully I'll get do update again by then. oh yeah~ clever me forgot to bring over my camera cable/card reader, that's why I wouldnt be able to upload any pictures for you guys to see.. yet` hehe So till my next update, Take it easy! :P

Heart-shaped kupa kupa cookies~ The society is so deprived of Love, so Ah Benben bake love shaped cookies to make this world a better place~ (like as if I am some sort of wizard with black magic. Remember to eat the cookies baked by me :X)

prepare the necessary ~~witch craft~~ ingredients~ dump everything in, io ka chng a bit and voila~! the dough is done` Use a cookie cutter and cut the dough and you should get something like...

This~ An army of Love` Dump them into the "fiery pit" again and leave them aside to cool`.

At first I thought making the pineapple tarts was troublesome, making this sort of cookies with icing on top was 100 times worst than making the tart.` Why? cause you need to make icing to glaze the surface of the cookie, and you need to draw deco on top of the cookies~~~

My first attempt looked like...

I wanted to put Christmas song while baking see got any side effects or not the tarts :P. But PC asked me to play classical music instead~ So I played Beethoven's symphonies on the stereo while I was making the tarts, don't know when you eat it can feel the music or not~ lolsssss

We actually came here for the exhibition and I was impressed that Thailand's princess actually designed her fashion line, which she included thai traditional motives and modernized them, and brought all of her designs to paris for exhibition` WOW! and I thought royalties just sit in the palace and comes out to do occasional miss world hand waves :X

Our next stop was..

kao san road~ Looks a bit like putrajaya right the pic? lolss sorry it's blur i couldn't stabilize my hand any better~

kao san road is like the kuai-lou area and never in my life have I seen soooooooooooooooooooooooooo many foreigners gathering at one spot and all of them are so gorgeous as if they had just walked out from magazines or something. How come we don't get that in Malaysia? Ish :X

My first taste of Pat thai Kung. It looks like fried kuey tiaw but it's sweet~ quite tasty hehehe

Thai curry~ We ordered tom yum kung too` but since it was messed up before I took picture, I didn't post it up. The tom yum was DELICIOUS!!!! *drooooooolsssssss*

There were alcohol ban due to the pre-election thing, so there wouldn't be any alcohol served during the remaining period of my stay. So we decided to grab a drink at kao san. the drinks cost rm6 per glass and the taste was.. Yucky` hahahahahahhah

Trip to thailand wouldn't be complete if you haven't sit on a tuk-tuk` it's quite fun actually especially when the drivers are speeding` hahaha

After that we went back to the hotel and .........

Bangkok (pt.2)

We stayed at Reflections room, Bangkok. This place is actually some sort of designer "hotel" whereby there's a few rooms and each rooms are custom designed by the local artists there. It was quite fascinating to see all the designs, some haunting, some peculiar, and mine? I'd say "posh"~ I get to poop in front of branded shops (D&G, Gucci, LV, Prada etc. etc.) and the Eiffel Towel..

After we unpacked and changed, we went to grab ourselves some meal~

The great hunt begins, and we strayed and wondered and we ended up at a Thai Kopitiam..

Your finger is essential when ordering food especially when your sentences sounds like !@#$%^*%^&@$%^!@$!@#$ in their head, and vice versa`~

I ordered a plate of Moo Fried rice` (yes, moo means beef :X) and a bottle of weird tasting orange drink :X The food are really cheap there~ A giant bowl of fried moo rice and the orange only cost me RM4.50. The portion was so huge that we had to practically drag our ka chng out from the shop`

After the meal we head over to "playground", a concept store where you get a huge collection of magazines and cds on the ground floor, artistic books and stationaries on the first and household items (something like "rooms") on the second. It was a cool place`

Enjoying the drink and listening to the Ipods at Starbucks before we head off to...... :P

I found out that it was actually the ads acting up cause it expired or something and apparently those who have them on the blog can't launch their blogs properly.

With all respect, the company had helped me earned some moolah in the past. But not paying attention to server expiry dates is way too lame as an excuse for a professional organization.

Bangkok (pt.1)

sawadeeka~ Ah benben is back to update you with my trip` teehee. Since they all left from kl to bangkok, I had to flew over to KL first. Then the first night, I stayed over at Angel suite thank you so much for picking me up and providing a shelter, memang a true angel~! hehe

Then the next day i sat skybus to lcct again, then meet up with the rest of the group` there were 18 of us on that particular trip, and boy was I glad that all of them were friendly peeps. Imagine, a ~~cute, little~~ boy, flying over ~~south china~~ sea, and go to bangkok with a bunch of strangers, fulala, I must have had lots of guts to do so..

anyways enough of the drama :P It was fun boarding the Thai Airasia plane~ The stewards and stewardess were all from thailand and they were very good looking~ heheheheheheheh :X

I think it says "it's a serious offense if you don't io kachng (shake your butt) in Thailand"....

It was demo time~ and it was the first time the attendant borrowed my desk to put their demo mask.. so snap pictures lor, "bloggers marh, jakun marh, everything also wanna take marh" (quoted from general public)

and I made new friends~!

After approximately two hours of plane ride,

we reached bangkok international airport~ The airport was under construction so it was a bit of a havoc at the arrival hall. I had fun posing in front of the cam during the immigration check lols~ :P

And when we went out to wait for our van, the first thing that caught my attention was..

heheh~ Ah benben went to Bangkok the other day, thanks to Apostrophe~ I was one of the finalist for the postcard programme and that was so not expected! hoorah for boingboing, cause I submitted his paintings lols :P

The trip to bangkok was extremely fun and definitely an eye opener for me. The life in bangkok is sooooo vibrant! Well anyways, the things are very, very cheap in bangkok, especially in Chatuchak Market. I spent the whole morning there walking from 10am till 4pm` BAHAHAHAHHA! (of course, my legs almost broke when I reached the hotel)

So all in all my trip this time, I bought....

A pair of flops, A watch...

A shirt and 9 tees...

board shorts and a bag~

WAHAHAHAHHAHAHA See I told you bangkok was a shopping paradise ;) Stay tuned for more updates about bangkok`

beachy beach~

Few days before I went to bangkok, I head up to Damai Beach Resort with my college mates~ Since a few of us are leaving next year, we thought we should go for some gathering and spend some ~~bitchy~~ beachy time together~

I drove up at around 2pm in the afternoon, and then I received an emergency sms from those who have arrived. *panic music in the background* O M G~?! I HAVE TO WHAT?!?!?!? sigh, since it was an emergency, I drove into Kampung Santubong to look for a grocery shop. *hallelujah chorus playing* I FOUND IT!~!!

and I bought what I was assigned to get.. quite embarrassing actually to buy it cause the aunty kept giving this weird smirk on her face. Ish, can't I help my friend to get it? :X

anyways, I finally reach Damai beach with my bag on my back, lots of food on my left hand and ~~the pack of kotex on my right~~

The weather was good when I got there`

I took a dip in the pool with my friends, and of course,

went to laze at the beach` :P

There were lots of fun in between, squeezing 12 people into a hotel room, laughing like mad, eating the yucky nasi goreng at the hotel, going to Buntal for seafood, made so much noise at night until the admin came over to knock on our door, sleep at the beach and etc~

I enjoyed the trip a lot and to see that it's our last outing, it kinda gives a very sentimental value to the whole thing.

Time does fly, very quickly too. :)

Ah benben is back from his damai trip and will be off to KL again tonight. Then, tomorrow morning I'll be heading over to bangkok for a 4D 3N stay and will only be back in Kch on next Monday` See you guys soon :)

There will be a few events coming up this weekend:

1) 4 choir groups from singapore will be performing at the Old court house, kuching, this Saturday (8th Dect). This is definitely an event not to be missed as these four choirs (around 190 members altogether), will be putting up a show with a repertoire of varied genres. Tickets are priced at RM 20 for the afternoon show, while RM 50 and RM 100 for the night show. This is a charity show in aid of the Sarawak Thalassemian Society.
